Matt is the Managing Director of CTY, a company that he founded to support client partners in delivering value from the relationship between people and strong process.

Matt has extensive experience in working with production and technical teams to align on foundational understanding needed to work together in achieving production outcomes. There is a shortage of mining engineers with production experience and production teams with technical experience. This results in a misalignment of understanding between the two departments.

These shortcomings are often attributed to difficult teams or poor management. However, in reality, the inefficiencies often lay with poor communication. By helping teams understand the “why”, Matt facilitates communication alignment to achieve practical results that see teams coming together in achievement of a common goal.

Matt is in his element when working with client partners that are experiencing any of the following concerns:

  • A mismatch between planned and actual production performance,
  • A complicated mine plan that is lost in communication to production teams,
  • Plans are being issued but not followed,
  • Technical design issues causing safety and productivity impacts during the extraction phase of mining,
  • A lack of opportunities for feedback through embedding rhythms and routines,
  • The absence of practical auditing routines and actions to improve processes,
  • Frontline Leaders in need of coaching, 1:1 mentoring and development.

 

Matt has technical experience as a D&B Engineer, D&B Superintendent and certified SME in Drill & Blast optimisation activities, with a reputation across the East Coast Mining Industry working with technical teams in:

  • Misfire Investigations,
  • Storage & Use Audits,
  • Operational Reviews,
  • SOP & Management Plan Development for Blasting Operations,
  • Fragmentation Improvement Programs,
  • SME Support for Through-Seam Blasting implementation,
  • Project Manager of a Tier 1 Miner D&B Improvement Program,
  • Developer of a Tier 1 Miner D&B Planning & Design Guideline.
